Progreso Community Center (PCC) sponsors
a variety of cultural activities to celebrate the diversity
of the Hispanic immigrant community in Nashville.
PCC is a venue for community members to express
and share their artistic talents, such as
traditional folk dances, visual arts, and music.
PCC has sponsored or participated in
the following cultural activities:
• Hosted Peruvian Folk Art Exhibition
and presentation of Latin American and Spanish dances
to celebrate PCCs 1st Anniversary (February 2007)
• Organized a Latin American dance group,
with Mexican and Bolivian folk dances,
with various dance performances around Nashville
(Aug 2007-present)
• Twice hosted the Latin American Village
and PCC dance group performed
at the annual Celebration of Cultures at Centennial Park,
which is organized by Scarritt Bennett Center
and Nashville Metro Parks & Recreation
(over 20, 000 attendees)
(October 2007 and October 2008)
• Held PCC 2nd Anniversary Celebration
featuring Mexican and Bolivian folk dances
and a documentary photography exhibit and music
by Dr. Gregorio Hernandez from Mexico (Feb 2008)
• Celebrated PCC 3rd Anniversary
featuring Mexican folk dance and food
representative of the different countries from Latin America.
• Exhibition of Latin American artists
and our local community members
